How does travel and cancellation insurance work?

I strictly require all my travelers to hold a comprehensive international travel insurance policy, including full coverage for emergency medical expenses and repatriation. I also strongly recommend securing a cancellatione insurance policy. What is the minimum number of travel days recommended for a trip to South Africa?
South Africa is vast, which is why I recommend at least 14 to 21 days for a full, comprehensive tour. This allows you to combine multiple regions (such as the Western Cape and the Kruger region) at a comfortable pace. If you have less time, like 7 to 10 days, I highly advise focusing strictly on one specific area. Think of an immersive safari experience around our Kruger Lodge (where you can enjoy our 10% discount for stays of 7 days or more!) or a compact trip exploring the highlights of the Cape. Which language is used for communication during planning and the stay?
At Wild Memories, I communicate entirely in the language you feel most comfortable with. My travel coaching, written itinerary proposals, and all preparation assistance are available in Dutch and English. Once you arrive at my Kruger Lodge, you will be warmly welcomed by our personal host, who communicates fully in English & South African. This ensures your dream journey is seamless, clear, and completely free of language barriers.
Safety: Is traveling in South Africa safe?
Yes, when you travel smart and follow expert advice. Safety is my absolute priority. I design routes through safe regions, select secure accommodations, and provide you with comprehensive safety guidelines before departure. When sourcing and selecting other accommodations for your itinerary, safety is my top criteria; I only work with properties that have proven security standards. My private lodge is located inside a secure, gated wildlife resort with 24/7 security, allowing you to relax completely and enjoy the wilderness with peace of mind.
Car Rental: Do I need a rental car, and is it safe to drive?
A rental car gives you the ultimate freedom to explore at your own pace. Driving in South Africa is generally very pleasant, and roads in the tourism sectors are well-maintained. Remember that traffic drives on the left. For the Kruger and Eastern Cape regions, we often recommend an SUV or 4x4 for the best wildlife-viewing height. - Wildlife & Safari (Kruger & Eastern Cape): The dry winter months (May to September) are spectacular. The bush is thin, and animals gather around waterholes, making them very easy to spot. I advise you on the best routes, optimal arrival times, and which airports fit your custom itinerary perfectly (such as flying into Johannesburg, Cape Town, or a local safari airstrip like KMIA or Skukuza). I ensure your ground transfers or car rental seamlessly connect with your flight schedule.
Do I need a visa or specific vaccinations for South Africa?
For stays up to 90 days, tourist visas are granted free of charge upon arrival for citizens of most European countries, the US, and the UK. Regarding health, vaccinations for DTP and Hepatitis A are recommended. If you travel to the Kruger region, it is a malaria-risk area during certain months.
